From 11 to 21 October the Mūkusala Art Salon invites visitors to the open office of the forthcoming art centre Zuzeum which provides an insight into the centre's formation.
From the initial idea of gathering theZuzāns Collection under a single roof the Mūkusala Art Salon has grown into a private art institution which within a few years will move to a new site and transform into art centre Zuzeum. Its nucleus will consist of the Zuzāns Collection and the Mūkusala Art Salon – with a new identity and new name.
The project by Zaigas Gailes birojs proposes building a repository of art treasures for the more than 5000 objects of the Zuzāns Collection behind the former Cork Factory in Lāčplēša iela 101. The sculptural volume of the building will be decorated by specially made noble metal panels symbolising its valuable contents.
Zuzeum open office introduces Zaiga Gaile's design for the art centre and the idea behind Zuzeum's visual identity developed by graphic designer Madara Krieviņa.
