In the Upper Gallery of the Mūkusala Art Salon, the exhibition Outlet gathers photographs taken in the late 1990s. Artist Ivars Grāvlejs documented people who, despite the conditions dictated by the economic situation, found ways to cultivate fun and gaiety around themselves. At least that is the impression created by the photographs.
The title Outlet, in this case, can be seen as flirting with the idea of stores that sell clothes by famous brands at lower price. The photographs are accompanied by logos of fashion brands and other recognisable companies, creating a sharp contrast between the documentary image and the brand, as well as pointing towards the documented individuals' attitude towards clothes. The exhibition is curated by Tomass Pārups.
